General information

About two thirds of Austria’s total area comprising 84000 km2 is covered by parts of the Central Eastern Alps, and Northern and Southern Limestone Alps. This explains why one will find a lot of wonderful different landscapes, caves and mountain lakes that attract divers looking for places apart from the mainstream destinations.
Mountaineering, hiking and biking are favourite leisure activities in our country.

Austria’s population is estimated at 8.3 million people, about one fifth of them living in the capital Vienna.
The country is divided in 9 federal states with some autonomous legislative authority apart from the federal government. Graz is Austria’s second largest city and the capital of Styria, one of the federal states.
The alpine climate is predominant but summer and early autumn days can be very warm, inviting to sit outsides and to enjoy a glass of famous Styrian wine in an agreeable and peaceful atmosphere.
